Season 2

Season 2 for Grey's Anatomy began in 2005 and carried over to the year 2006.  This season mainly focuses on Meredith and Derek's relationship.  All is going well until the relationship stops because Meredith finds out that Derek is married to Addison Montgomery.  Another relationship reveals itself between Izzie and Alex, but falls apart very quickly.  Also, Bailey becomes pregnant and talks a lot about her personal life. For this season, there is a lot of relationship problems that occur.  You start to learn more about each characters life and are really getting into the show by Season 2.  Unlike any other season, this one seemed to be particularly long.  To me, I enjoyed it being very long because it was getting into the heart of the show and I could not wait to watch more.
For Private Practice, the season started out dealing with the practices financial problems.  This makes everything turn around and Addison ends up becoming the new boss.  Throughout the whole season there are problems with relationships, Naomi and Sam, Charlotte and Cooper, along with Addison.  Also, they have a little bit of contact with Derek from Grey's Anatomy.  He is asked to work on a tumor that is in Addison's brother.  Violet gets pregnant and has no idea who the dad is and Dell has to deal with his girlfriends drug addict.  There were many relationship problems like I said, but there were mainly medical cases, like abortion, that caused a lot of drama throughout the practice.
In my opinion, you can not compare Grey's Anatomy to Private Practice because they are in many ways completely different shows. Of course, Grey's is more about young residents and has a hospital setting, while private practice has more adults and an office setting.  They are both very good shows and continue getting better as more seasons progress. Later on I will let you know how Season 3 turned out for both shows.

Season 1

When Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy came out, its original purpose was to serve as a replacement for Boston Legal. During the season, Meredith Grey enrolls into the program at the hospital. After the first year in the surgical , her along with a couple others progress to residency. The program is run by a chief and they are trained by a surgeon who is on her way to be the next chief assistant. Meredith comes to find out that the chief had a personal relationship with her, this included the affair he was having with her mother. Derek, who is a cardiothoracic surgeon is Merediths love interest. Season 1 just starts off with all the the exciting drama and relationships that are about to occur. Later on I will discuss what progresses into Season 2.
Season 1 of Private Practice started in the year 2007. This first season is all about Addison dealing with her move from Seattle to Los Angeles. It is about her coping with the new business that is a private practice. This season goes through all of her processes of getting to know her co-workers. In the practice they have a fertility specialist, a specialist in internal medicine, psychiatrist, pediatrician, an alternative medicine specialist, and a receptionist. Every single one of the doctors owns a share of the company. The administrative assistant at the hospital works with the practice due to a relationship built between the two. There are a lot of great surprises in season 1, and more to come with season 2.
After watching both of the shows open up with the first seasons, I was very excited to get into watching them every week. I really enjoyed watching Grey's Anatomy, but once Private Practice came out, I enjoyed both. I really like watching how they both intertwine with each other and how one is practically based off the other one.

Why I chose Grey's and Private Practice

Since this is my first time ever starting a blog, I had a hard time coming up with what I wanted to blog about. I was thinking of some favorite hobbies that I liked to do, along with the things that interested me the most. The thing that I can up with was Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. These are my two absolute favorite shows that I watch every Thursday night. Both of these shows are about doctors who tell their stories through the way that their days go in their fields. I am not actually going to school to be a doctor, but for some reason the shows seem to interest me and I look forward to watching them every week.
Grey's Anatomy is a medical drama television series that follows the life of interns, residents, and mentors. It shows what they do in the day of their work, for example, taking care of patients, along with actually operating on them. The show is done through the fictional hospital called Seattle Grace Mercy West. Not only does it follow them in their lives, but it also shows the struggles they have to go through to make it through the day. Grey's Anatomy is not only based on drama, but it also has a lot of interest in relationships as well. Grey's Anatomy has 7 seasons, being in the 7th season right now.
Private Practice is also a medical drama television series. This is basically a spin-off of Grey's Anatomy. The show started off with the main character, Addison, leaving Seattle Grace Mercy Medical to go start her own practice. She went and opened a practice in Los Angeles. Private Practice is mainly about the inside look of the practice and what each person brings to the workplace. Each person has basically a different role in what they do professionally. Like Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice also focuses on relationships along with the drama. So far there are 4 seasons, being in the 4th right now, and starting up a 5th season next year.
